4th of Jul-Ivar's

Every year since 1964, Ivar's has presented the annual "Fourth of Jul-Ivar's" Independence Day celebration at Seattle's Myrtle Edwards Park. Ivar's employees donate more than 2,000 hours of their time to create, coordinate and staff the event each year. Designed as a traditional American Independence Day event for families, the day-long festival is free and open to the public, attracting around 300,000 people each year. In 2002, more than a dozen different musical acts, including jazz, blues, rock, gospel and international performers, performed on three stages. Children's entertainment includes ice cream and cotton candy eating contests, bubble-blowing toys, inflatable slides, clowns and mural painting. A spectacular fireworks show above Seattle's Elliott Bay, the largest privately sponsored Fourth of July fireworks display on the West Coast, concludes the celebration. Over its 38-year history, "Fourth of Jul-Ivar's" has entertained millions of western Washington residents, helping to create a sense of community on one of the most celebrated and important dates in the United States.
