Ivar's has been featuring our white clam chowder in its restaurants in Seattle and Washington state where it is the favorite chowder sold. It has won numerous awards:
"While we win all the awards, the biggest award comes from customers who eat our chowder every day," Ivar's Chowder King, Chris Lewark, said. "You can eat our chowder in the Microsoft or Boeing cafeterias, at SeaTac Airport or on the Washington State Ferries, at almost every University campus in the state, on Amtrak, The Alaska Railroad, Seattle's Woodland Park Zoo, and in most high school cafeterias in Washington. You can also get it in our 25 Seafood Bars and 3 full-service restaurants, 3 Fish Bars at Safeway or QFC or Costco, Sam's or at Safeco Field, Qwest Field, Husky Stadium and Everett Events Center. You can even have it delivered direct to your doorstep," through our Exclusively Washington store. "We pulled our chowder wagon, a converted Airstream, trailer up to Husky Stadium during the University of Washington football season this fall," Lewark said. "People liked it so much we sold one cup of chowder every seven seconds." If you stacked every cup of clam chowder Ivar's sold last year it would be as tall as 138 Mount Rainiers (Mt. Rainier is 14,411 feet tall) or 3,285 Space Needles (605 feet tall). Or, it would be enough to fill 14 Boeing 777-200's (7,080 cubic feet each), or enough to feed every resident the West Coast, more than 15 cups. This chowder is rich with clams, potatoes and a hint of bacon. It is lactose-free, unless you reconstitute it with milk.
